Vanilla Refresh

The server is equipped with a datapack called Vanilla Refresh

These docs are partially pulled and edited from the Vanilla Refresh Datapack page

Health Displays

Mobs will have their health displayed in the action bar (text directly above your hotbar).

Players will have their health displayed below their nametag.

Daycounter

After someone sleeps and the it becomes morning, there will be an animation displaying the current Minecraft day in your hotbar.

This is mostly a cool little thing, it does not show actual playtime in Minecraft days (days still advance even when no one is online)

Any day that is a multiple of 100 will play a special milestone animation.

Homing experience orbs

If you kill a Ghast, the experience orbs will fly towards you instead of them falling into lava.

Crafting sounds

When you craft something in a crafting table, it will play a woody crafting sound.

Certain conditions like the number of items crafted at once and the type of item might play different sounds!

A small particle effect that is mostly only visible to other players will show on top of a crafting table when something ins crafted!

Crops drop xp

If you break crops, there is a small chance that they will give a small amount of experience. This will not happend if you use effortless harvest. This is intentional because getting a small amount of xp from farming is a very early game feature.

Jukeboxes override game music

It's pretty self explanitory. Minecraft music will be stopped for you if you are in range if a playing Jukebox so it won't overlap with the Jukebox.

Loyalty tridents stay loyal in the void

Instead of a loyalty trident getting killed if it falls in the void, it will instead bounce off of y level 0 to come back to you!

Baby zombie changes

Health of baby zombies has been halfed, but they can now sprint jump!

Better and universal death sounds

Instead of the classic "splat" sound that Minecraft plays when you die, a special death sound will play based on how you died. This death sound is also played to all players to make your death more announced. Playing death sounds to all players may be considered annoying, please tell me what you think!

Better armour stands

The datapack page explains this better than I could so I'll just quote them.

[Armour stands] now have arms, and a bunch of different poses for you to display your armor, items, and weapons

Power a lever near them to swap their pose

You can add an item to an armor stand then right click it with a tripwire hook to turn it into a tool rack. They'll hook onto to the wall the armor stand is against, perfect for displaying your swords and tools.

Drop ladder

Again, quoted from the datapack page

Found yourself a big drop in a cave below you? Press sneak whilst on a ladder to extend its length down and create hanging ladders allowing you to descend down.

Totems work in the void

The datapack page also explains this very well

Falling into the void with a totem in hand/offhand will enter you into a controllable float mode of levitation till you reach land.

Player's heads drop on death

It is exactly what is says

Silence mobs with echo shards

Let's see what the datapack page has to say...

Drop an echo shard on top of a mob to silence it. You can get that echo shard back by placing water on top of the mob, or directly killing the mob.

F3 Day offset

Java Minecraft's day counter starts at 0 instead of 1, this is a little weird because you have to remember to add 1 to the day count to get the actual number of days that have passed. This simple tweak adds 1 to the day counter in the F3 screen.

Wither head drops

When you defeat the wither, it will drop a wither head as a trophy.

Equipable banners

Ever wanted to wear a banner on you head like a Pilliger captain?

  • Hold a banner in your hand

  • Crouch 3 times in quick succession (on Java click shift 3 times quickly)

Additional player animation

Quoted from the datapack page

New player animations for leveling up and splashing on water at different heights!

Special blocks have special animations

Quoted from datapack page

Blocks including Enchanting Tables, Brewing Stands, Beacons, Wither Skeleton Skulls, Dragon Eggs, and Jukeboxes will have improved block animations. Immersion x100!

Jukebox animations can be enhanced even more by placing a note block below a jukebox

Opening enderchests will also shoot out a cool ring of purple particles

Event subtitles

Quoted from datapack page

Major events like summoning the wither and entering the end will display a dramatic title on screen

When finding a new biome, it'll display the name/category name of the biome as a title on screen

Trimmed Armored Piglins

Quoted from the datapack page

Armored piglins now have a chance of spawning in with their armor pieces trimmed. About 8% of all piglins will have trimmed armor, and bastion remnants will have 16% of all piglins with trimmed armor.

Low Health Sound

Quoted from the datapack page

If you take damage at low health, a heartbeat amethyst sound will play once

Path Sprinting

Quoted from the datapack page

Paths now give you speed as an incentive to place paths around your towns

Armour Stands and Item Frames Invisibility

Quoted from the datapack page

Throw an invisibility potion on an armor stand or item frame to make it invisible

Use a splash water bottle to make it reappear!

Readable Clocks

Hold a clock to see the exact day and time it is in Minecraft in your action bar. Place it in an item frame and walk near it to achieve the same effect without having to hold the clock.

Party Cake

Quoted from the datapack page

Make your cakes more surprising by dropping a firework on them making them explode with confetti when eaten!

Server join/leave sound

Plays a sound whenever someone joins or leaves the server
